Missouri Breaks

Missouri Breaks is my musical offering for and about Montana but performed and recorded in the Czech Republic. This is from my recent recording on Ravello Records with the distinguished Benda String Quartet in the 14th-century church of Saint Wenceslaus in Opava, Czech. The stone floor and vaulted ceiling made for an unbelievable acoustic environment, and its sheer age sparked in me a deep reverence for the seven hundred years of music that filled this space prior to this memorable night session.

Night Scribe from the 2024 album MISSOURI BREAKS recorded with Benda Quartet considers the periodic appearance of Halley's Comet and wonders where humanity might find itself when the comet next appears in the year 2062.

One of the highlights for me this summer was playing music with the awesome cellist Maria Ahn as the sun cast its final light on the spectacular Bridger Mountains. This piano etude is by Sibelius, Op76, and like most great pieces, it's much, much better on the guitar, or in this case guitar and cello.
